There are three main actors in this drama.
Michael Walker, a disgraced soldier, has returned to his home land. He is divorced, separated from the military, estranged from his daughters and has lost his son. He has been on a long journey, a soldier in the long war.
Charlotte Fine, a doctor, once a dancer, has left NYC to come to this austere land peopled with odd folk to tend long neglected wounds.
The land. It too has been abused and insists on its participation in the narrative.
