As the dust settles from the battle with Palora, Skite and Ella are attempting to figure out what normal life looks like, now, living in Verida and being a family of three. Meanwhile, Ella is making friends among the noble class - in her very Lady Westhauser way - and they find themselves in a position of power and influence that they must be careful with. Sometimes it seems everything in Verida is tediously political.

They enjoy their time with each other, with Lily, and in the life that they're making, but more trouble is already on its way. Trouble that's going to have reverberating consequences not only for the Westhausers, but for the entire city of Verida.
