I only agreed to one weekend.

I knew it was a bad idea before I let my best friend talk me into going. But I was never good at telling her no, even if it meant spending the weekend before Christmas in the mountains with Chelsea, her fiancé, and his too-much-of-a-smart-aleck-for-anyone’s-good best friend. I knew it was going to be a disaster. I just didn’t know that disaster would come in the form of too few beds and too much snow. Now I was stuck with two choices—brave the snow to get back to Hazy Cove or put up with Wade for a few extra days.

Bridget was the highest maintenance person I knew. So why did I agree to spend a weekend in the mountains with her and our so-in-love-it’s-annoying best friends? It was just supposed to be a couple of days of good views, plenty of drinks, and seeing how many times I could get her to roll her eyes. What could possibly go wrong? Then it started to snow, and when we were suddenly trapped in the small cabin, I wanted to take care of her. Whether she wanted to let me or not.

One weekend wasn’t going to be enough.
