He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Editor-in-Chief of European Urban and Regional Studies, and was elected to the Academy of Social Sciences in 2007. He is a Visiting Professor at Queen Mary University of London and a member of the Centre on Labour and Global Production.
