Richard Fleischman is a writer, educator, and performer whose work brings together music, history, and the enduring theme of human resilience. With decades of experience on stage and in the classroom, he writes with clarity, compassion, and a deep understanding of artistic expression.
He is the author of over forty books across genres, including The Rediscovering Classical Music series, which explores the passions and controversies of the world’s great composers; The Broadway Chronicles, celebrating the legacy of American musical theatre; and The Golden Age of Queer Hollywood, honoring LGBTQ+ artists whose stories have too often been erased.
His newest nonfiction series, The 19th-Century Britain Library, is designed for writers, researchers, and readers of historical fiction. It includes The Dark Side of the Victorian Era, The Lost Lives of the 19th Century, and The Historical Novelist’s Field Guide, blending vivid historical insight with practical tools for storytelling.
When not writing, Richard can be found performing, mentoring young musicians, or wandering through archives in search of the next forgotten life worth remembering.
