Greetings!

My name is Rosemary “Mamie” Adkins but I prefer to be called Mamie by my friends and those I care to know. I was born and spent most of my childhood in Houston, Texas. Later, I moved with my family to Las Vegas, Nevada, where I graduated from Bishop Gorman High School in 1965.

After graduation, my family moved to Redding, California, where we resided for about six months, until moving to Eugene, Oregon.

I/We (my husband, Douglas E. Adkins and I) had been in the candy making business for twenty six years and though we retired, we were eager to stay amongst the general public so we obtained an exclusive for the USA to Import/Distribute a fine design of Woollen goods from Aine Knitwear of Ireland. Retiring again, three years later so my writing career could be established we found working at writing took more effort than a 9 to 5 job!.

My first book Extraordinary Dreams of an Ireland Traveler gave me the start I needed. It was classified as Creative non-fiction and was published in January 2012 after our dream vacation to Ireland in 2011.

Now challenged to complete the book I had been writing for sixteen years, Reflections of Mamie: A Story of Survival was published in June 2013. It is a memoir sharing the painful journey of child abuse and hope. Part of my life’s dream was to find a way to help other victims of child abuse so donations were made from the sale of my book to groups assisting those victims.

During this time, we lost our sweet Labrador Sandy to Cancer and our lives completely fell apart leaving us empty in our hearts. We volunteered at the local Humane Society vowing to help dogs find some happiness sharing the love Sandy had given to us for so many years. It was during that time we met little Maggie known as Dazzle Me when first brought into the shelter. She was only eight weeks old but had already known abuse, despair and abandonment. She was a strong spirited dog but seem to have given up fighting and she was also so sick Needless to say she came home with us where we spent the best part of two years nursing her back to health physically, mentally and emotionally.

Maggie was afraid of everyone and everything. Her health forced us to study nutrition, writing recipes and stories of our adventures and struggles along the way and they soon became part of our new book together. We also decided to invite a dear friend to join us with her experience of writing and creating recipes for her grand puppy. A perfect match and we all worked hard to share our journey with you.

On October 31, 2015, Maggie”s Kitchen Tails: Dog Treat Recipes and Puppy Tales to Love will launch in honor of Maggie's birthday and becoming one of the sweetest puppies alive. Maggie is a natural Service and Therapy Dog to us both leaving behind most of her fears from her beginnings.

We invite you to visit our web site and share your stories and becoming one of her friends. In doing so, you may reserve your copy of the book signed by Maggie for yourself and others while knowing each book sold we make donations to KARE, ASPCA and PAWS so other dogs can find a new happy forever home too!

Be sure to watch for our product launch we are doing at the same time. Maggie has her favorite cookie recipes so we are packaging up two of the recipes with the dry ingredients just for your special furry family member! Everything can be found on our web site: http://www.MaggieTails.com

My husband and I have made it our lives work in helping out our causes, doing charity work but the one cause that touches our hearts are the children and animals of abuse. So, if wondering what our hobbies are, we have none. Our time is spent loving our family and feel nothing could be better!.

Thank you for your interest in my/our books,

Mamie
