Aaron Deter-Wolf is an archaeologist with the Tennessee Division of Archaeology in Nashville. His daily work includes managing ancient Native American sites on State-owned lands, conducting archaeological excavations and research, investigating disturbances to Native American graves, and undertaking repatriation efforts. Aaron's research focuses on ancient freshwater shellfishing along the Cumberland River in Tennessee, late prehistoric paleoclimate and food insecurity in the Middle Cumberland region, and the archaeological footprint of tattooing, and has been profiled in media outlets including National Geographic, the New York Times, and Science Friday.
