Lance Armstrong is an ordained minister of the United Church in Australia, which he currently serves as the Tasmanian Synod Peaceworker.
He has been involved int he Peace Movement for a number of years. During 1977-1978 he was Chairperson of the Launceston (Tasmania) branch of the movement Against Uranium Mining, and has also been Vice-president of Launceston People for Nuclear Disarmament. In 1984 he founded Christians For Peace in Launceston, and also published his first book on peace issues: "How Many Bombs Lord?"
Throughout most of his adult life, he has been intimately involved with young people. During the 1960s he was a professional youth leader, working with young people in Australia, Papua-New Guinea and England.
Lance Armstrong is also a trained teacher and for the past six years he has been a member of the staff at the Launceston Community College, where he teaches H.S.C. students. During those six years he has taught Religious Studies, Social Psychology, Australian History and Community Studies.
