Kreetta Onkeli is a Finnish writer and columnist. In 2013, she received the "Finlandia Junior Award" for his work «Poika, joka menetti muistinsa» (The Boy Who Lost His Memory)
Kreetta Onkeli grew up in rural municipalities of Luhanka and Joutsa. She graduated from Joutsa High School in 1989 and studied at the Theater Academy's dramaturg degree program. Onkeli has lived in Helsinki since 1991.
Kreetta Onkel's first novel was «Ilonen talo» (1996) which is based on her own childhood experiences. This novel received «The Kalevi Jäntti Award» in 1997. A three-part television film was produced based on the novel «Tervetuloa iloiseen taloon» and on the short story collection «Tervetuloa paratiisiin».
Onkeli has worked as a journalist or columnist for Helsingin Sanomat, Talouselämä, Savon Sanomat, Image, Maaseudun Tulevaisuus, Iltalehti and Kuntalehti and along with other journals.
